INGREDIENTS
Lactic Acid
Derived from the fermentation of milk, it is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that acts as a keratolytic, helping to encourage the shedding of cells in the stratum corneum to encourage new cell growth. Also acts as a hygroscopic substance (humectant), having the ability to attract or absorb water molecules from the surrounding environment.
Lemon Peel Extract
Derived from the peel of the lemon, it contains ascorbic acid, vitamin A and phytochemicals called limonoids. It has antiseptic and astringent properties which counteract acidity on the surface to brighten dull skin.
Bearberry Extract
Derived from the shrub found in the high mountains of Europe, it has anti-oxidant properties because it contains flavonoids and has astringent and antiseptic properties due to the bitter plant polyphenol, tannin. It also contains the glycoside, arbutin, which acts as an anti-inflammatory, helping to inhibit tyrosinase (enzyme responsible for melanin) reducing hyperpigmentation.
